Victoria Gallery & Museum

Opened in May 2008 by HRH The Princess Royal, this Grade II listed building, designed by Alfred Waterhouse has been a central part of University life for over a century. As a celebration of Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture, the building has been carefully renovated and transformed into a public venue for all to enjoy.

Our aim is to amaze and amuse all our visitors with an incredible collection of curiosities from the 120 year history of the University of Liverpool. We believe the exhibits you’ll find at the Victoria Gallery & Museum give you an experience that’s unique from other Liverpool museums.

Where else would you find the world’s most important display of false teeth under the same roof as an exhibition of fine art? We’re also very proud that these weird and wonderful items are housed in our most prized exhibit… the Victoria Building itself.

It’s our job to preserve and present all the beautiful and bizarre curiosities from the last 130 years of the University’s history. We also handpick imaginative and unusual Liverpool exhibitions and art for our gallery and museum from around the world to make sure there’s always something new to see at the Victoria Gallery & Museum.

This magnificent building is also a world-class events venue, hosting everything from formal dinners and functions, to literary festivals, music concerts and film screenings.  You can even tie the knot here!

Our exhibits are open 10am – 5pm Tuesday – Saturday

Café 9am – 4pm Monday – Friday, 10am – 3.45pm Saturday

Gift shop 9am – 4pm

Sundays & Bank Holidays:  Closed.

It is a free museum hosted by the University of Liverpool. My parents are dentists, and they enjoyed the collection of dental stuff very much. Galleries are also very good. Staff are very helpful and friendly. It is a must go museum if you come to visit Liverpool.
